Biography

With an always activated will to win, Natasha Camy is a powerhouse playmaker, breaking barriers, making history, and creating a legacy. As a veteran NCAA Women’s Division I basketball official, entrepreneur, investor and public speaker, Camy’s goals and aspirations transcend beyond average. Born into humble beginnings in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Camy’s maturation throughout her career has taken her across the globe, bringing about more purpose and passion for the growth of the game of basketball and the increasing role that women play within the sport.

As an investor for the Cape Town Tigers, a South African basketball club within the Basketball Africa League (BAL) of NBA Africa, Camy is one of the only African American women to invest in a BAL team. Having officiated in some of the most historic and high-profile matchups to include conference playoffs, finals, the highest viewed Elite 8 game in history, the Inaugural Shark City Women’s Championship Classic, the Inaugural Coretta Scott King Classic and the Missouri Valley Conference Final in which she was part of the first all black women crew for the conference, what’s next for her but up? Discipline and determination keep her focused on the court but her off-the-court endeavors are just as appealing.

Recently the main topic in an illustrious Forbes feature, Philadelphia Magazine’s 2024 Luminary Leader, a member of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau Diversity Advisory Board and a member of The Next Room, her schedule boasts little time to stay idle. However, it’s Camy’s development of Referee Ready Academy and Referee Ready Foundation that keeps her grounded. Referee Ready Academy is a development training program for individuals at varying levels, ages and stages that drives transformative initiatives to elevate officiating standards and promotes fair play. The academy offers multiple camps across the U.S. to provide access and promote inclusion in the world of referee development.

As she continues to invest in the next generation of officials, advocates for women in sports and builds up the communities around her, Camy looks forward to the opportunities that allow her to educate and share her life journey and experiences with others.
